#Stoner Conquers The 100th Victory Of The #Repsol Honda Team

Casey Stoner's victory at Aragón on the weekend marks the 100th for the Repsol Honda Team since the partnership was formed in 1995 allowing the Respol Honda Team to confirm it is the most successful team of the Motorcycling World Championship modern era.

On March 26th, 1995, the Motorcycling World Championship started a season with the arrival of a new sponsor in the premiere category. The Repsol livery painted with an attractive design the official NSR 500 of the Honda Team. In his first race, Mick Doohan inaugurated in the best way the collaboration of the two big international companies, achieving the first of the 35 victories by one of the most solid and successful partners of the Motorsport world and especially of the Motorcycling World Championship.

Today, 16 years later, Casey Stoner achieved at the Aragón Grand Prix victory number 100 in the Motorcycling World Championship for the Repsol Honda Team. A success that confirms this long-lived pair of Repsol and Honda as one of the most important and successful teams of Motorcycling history.

The Australian adds today's triumph to the list of successes achieved by great riders such as Mick Doohan, Valentino Rossi or Álex Crivillé, who got on the first step defending Honda's orange and blue colours so characteristics of the Motorcycling World Championship.

It has been 16 years in which the Spanish energy company and the Japanese motorcycling brand have built a relationship which translated into 8 World Championship titles in the premiere category, thus achieving international recognition which started with that first victory of Mick Doohan.

That win was followed by another 34 for the Australian, a major player in this feat. It was a Spaniard, Álex Crivillé, who took over when Doohan retired. The noi de Seva wrote a golden page of the Spanish and International Motorcycling when he became 500cc World Champion in 1999. With his pass to MotoGP, Valentino Rossi showed again the strength of the Repsol Honda Team by achieving 20 wins and 2 World Championship titles, followed by the one achieved by Nicky Hayden in 2006.

The same year was also the debut of Dani Pedrosa who, currently together with Andrea Dovizioso and Casey Stoner, is part of the most powerful line-up of this year's World Championship and sets the reference of the Continental Circus.

With today's victory, the Repsol Honda Team has won ten of the fourteen rounds already held this season, thus following the victorious path the Spanish company and the Japanese constructor started by mid 90's. This is the story of a solid and strong alliance that allowed the Repsol Honda Team to become the team with more victories in the World Championship, no less than 100.

Horex VR6 Delayed Until Spring 2012 ? Supercharged Version Later
[info]lenortrouth
German upstart Horex has announced that production of the Horex VR6 will be delayed from its planned start later this year, and instead will start production in Spring 2012. Citing part supply issues, particularly with the bike’s supercharger unit, Horex will first make available its 160hp normally-aspirated version, while the 197hp supercharged version will start production in late 2012. The supply chain issue stems from the rebounding of the European OEM parts suppliers industry, who ...

De Puniet: ?The bike is working

like it should?

aragon motorland pramac racing de puniet friday

It was a challenging day for Aragon?s technicians, who had to grapple with a blackout in the afternoon that ultimately caused the cancellation of the premier class? second free-practice session. In the morning session, Randy De Puniet registered the sixth-best time and was first among all the Ducatis. Loris Capirossi finished with the 17th-best time in his first outing at the Motorland circuit.

Randy De Puniet:
?It?s a shame that we couldn?t go on track in the afternoon, as the morning session went very well. For a long time I?ve looked for such a good feeling with the bike; it?s strange, considering how differently things went at Misano. I?m satisfied. The bike is working like it should, and I want to repeat my performance tomorrow and Sunday.?

Loris Capirossi:
?It?s my first time at this circuit, and I must say that the track is beautiful, but difficult. This morning I tried to ride as much as possible, and unfortunately, this afternoon we were stuck in the garage. I?m optimistic anyway. The time that I did this morning shouldn?t be considered because I was trying to understand the track. I?m sure that I?ll go better tomorrow.?

Barberá sits twelfth after day one

aragon motorland mapfre aspar friday

Barberá suffered the setback of an electrical fault on his bike in the morning session, and having been limited to just thirteen laps he was looking forward to making progress in the afternoon session. However the untimely cancellation of FP2 left him twelfth on the time sheets, 1.7 seconds off the top, but with every confidence of a major step forward tomorrow.

Héctor Barberá:
"It was a strange day because with the cancellation of the second session you feel like you've been cut short. Even though I didn't do many laps this morning it was a productive session and the few laps I did were good ones. I was only four tenths off seventh place and I am not worried by our position today because with more track time I am sure we would have improved. I am enjoying myself a lot on the bike here - it suits my riding style and the Ducati, so I just want to keep working hard tomorrow and that's it. We had planned some set-up changes for this afternoon so we'll try those tomorrow and I am sure they'll be good."

Lorenzo on the pace at Motorland

aragon motorland yamaha friday

Team mate Ben Spies was also quick to find a good direction for his YZR-M1. The Texan rose to third using the softer tyres, only dropping in the time sheets to 11th as the rest of the field switched to faster rubber. The results leave the team optimistic for a strong performance from both riders in tomorrow in qualifying, after they participate in an extended morning session planned to compensate for the shortened first day.

Jorge Lorenzo:
?This morning we started in a good direction, finishing second just four tenths slower than Dani who was top. It?s too early to make too many conclusions because the track is too dirty so tomorrow will be the real day to see who is fastest. We are very disappointed to not be able to make the second start, we have so many things we wanted to try but at least we have an extra half an hour tomorrow to take profit from.?

Ben Spies:
?This morning was actually quite a good session for us; we were up to third position and then we opted not to change tyres and work on the set up. It seems everyone else tried the harder tyre in the end which worked a lot better so we?re looking forward to using that. We picked which set up we are going to move forward on so the end result of the session was definitely not what the bike is capable of. Tomorrow should be good. I?m annoyed about this afternoon, it?s no one persons fault but it?s frustrating.?

Bradley Smith Signs Three-Year Deal With Tech 3, Will Switch To MotoGP From 2013
[info]lenortrouth

Bradley Smith has been a revelation in the 2012 season. After struggling a little in the early part of the year, Smith quickly got the hang of riding a 600cc four stroke, and with the help of his crew chief Tom Jojic, has become a consistent front runner in the Moto2 class.

For a while, Smith was linked to a promotion to the MotoGP class with the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha team for next year, but hopes of such a move had faded over recent weeks. But with the announcement yesterday that Bradley Smith would be staying with the Tech 3 team for the next three years, Smith will get his promotion to MotoGP, albeit a year later than planned.

The deal sees Smith commit to Herve Poncharal's Tech 3 team through 2014. Next season, the young Englishman will stay in Moto2 and attempt to win the title in that class - a task that will be made much easier now that Marc Marquez is almost certain to ascend to a MotoGP ride on a Honda next year - after which he will switch to the Monster Tech 3 Yamaha team for 2013 and 2014. Smith's ties with Monster will have helped him secure the deal, as the US energy drink have also extended their contract with the Tech 3 MotoGP team for the next three years as well.

The Tech 3 press release announcing Smith's contract appears below:

From MotoMatters.com’s transcript of the Q&A session with Preziosi: We are exploring different solutions, though I don’t think material is the key point.
